Constitutional Assembly (Con-Ass) and IDPs in Mindanao

The YES votes of the administration congressmen have it to possibly change the Philippine Constitution.

On the other side, IDPs displaced brought by war in Mindanao are suffering day by day with no food on their plates and just waiting for the international aid to shower mitigated supplies for their daily survival. Their agony is prolonged as to when they can enjoy a peaceful and healthy environment to live with their children and family, while the government is busy in pursuing the Con-Ass in order for them to stay and get the power on their hands to control the future of the nation where in fact there was never a time that these current politicians sitting in the government ever lifted the situation of their constituents, the IDPs in particular who are living with anguish for 10 long months now since the military launched a pursuit operation against the two MILF commanders Ameril Umbra Kato and Bravo.

Their (IDPs) anniversary in the evacuation camps is near to come, but yet, there still no distinct lasting solution ever initiated by the government to resolve this crisis confronting the people of Mindanao. It is in our knowledge that the present situation in Mindanao is rooted upon the aborted signing of Memorandum of Agreement on Ancestral Domain (MOA-AD) which urged the Moro rebels to wage war against the government. It is quite rational for the MILF to do so, given the fact that the said MOA-AD was already initially signed by both parties and just waiting for the time to be formally signed in Putrijaya, Malaysia, and that they felt that the Arroyo administration is not serious enough dealing with them in terms of peace in Mindanao.

Thus, the result of this insincerity of the government was the displacement of more than a hundred thousand families in Mindanao and lost of their livelihood and even death of their love ones caused by indiscriminate firings and bombings mostly done by the military.

In terms of resolving the Mindanao problem, the government can always maximize its resources in resolving the problem in Mindanao particularly the MILF, with the present set-up of our constitution. And so, they cannot reason out the issues in Mindanao for the amendment of the Philippine constitution, as what Hermogenes Esperon was always barking.
